Workshop Testimony

I had an amazing time and learned more than I ever though possible.
- Robert Criss, The Expressive Landscape Print Workshop

I definitely learned some new skills on how to enhance my Landscape photos....just what I had hoped for.  Ed was personable and easy to understand.  It was a Saturday morning well spent.
- Elleene Stone, The Expressive Landscape Print

One of the most beautiful places in the world and Ed knows all the spots.  More than I could have ever hoped for.
- Ken Mitchell, The Big Sur Coast Workshop

This was my second time taking one of Edward's workshops and it won't be my last.  Edward is a wonderful teacher and always willing to help...even weeks after the workshop is over, thanks!
- Susan Gamino, Yosemite in the Spring

I've been a photographer for over 30 years and I've never had such an enjoyable experience as a photographer.
- Frank Leon, Yosemite in the Spring

I learned more in one day than I had in the last 5 years, I'm working on images in a whole new way.  On top of it all I met a lot of wonderful people, including Ed.
- Ted Crooker, The Expressive Landscape Print Workshop

I've attended many workshops in the past and this one was the best.  The image critique session alone was worth every penny but add in the lessons, fieldwork and location...WOW!
- Michael Rugg, The Big Sur Coast Workshop

I was blown away by the amount of effort Ed puts into the workshop, from the workbook, to the personal attention...He's (Edward) is an open book and always available.
- Debbie Belyeu, The Expressive Landscape Print Workshop

The best time I've ever had with a camera!
- Sue Ann Long, The Big Sur Coast Workshop

The workshop helped me see Yosemite for more than just the waterfalls and Half Dome so I could create images that show the soul of the park.  This is something I'll take with me for the rest of my life.
- Tom Zuccari, Yosemite in the Spring Workshop

Private Workshops

Throughout the year One, Two, Three Days of In-Field and/or Classroom Instruction $495 per day (For California Locations) 209.541.1815 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to schedule a private workshop

Would you like a photography workshop that caters specially to your needs as a photographer?  If so a private workshop may be perfect for you.  We'll discuss your photographic goals for the workshop, areas you'd like to work on and I'll view a sample of your work to help me get a feeling for where you are and what areas you both excel in and may need to develop a bit, this will help me create a workshop that is perfect for you.  Between the time of our conversation and our time together during the workshop I'll develop a curriculum designed specifically for your needs that will help you achieve your photographic goals.  Private workshops can take place in the field shooting, in the classroom learning or a combination of both, which is the most popular.  Whether you're just learning photography and would like someone to help you understand the basis such as exposure, composition and stops or you're technically sound and would simply like someone to show you some of the best spots to shoot and discuss creativity to help take your work to a new level, a private workshop may be just what your looking for.   I want you to get the most out of the workshop as possible so I like to teach private workshops at locations I know very well, below you will find current locations for private lessons.Setting Sun on Bonsai Rock by Edward Mendes

More about the cost of a Private Photographic Workshop

I really enjoy working one-on-one and in small groups with photographers.  I think this is one of the best ways to learn the art and craft of photography as it gives you complete attention from the instructor and the lessons are tailored to you exact needs.  A single day of instruction for one person is $495 to areas within California that are within a 2 hour drive from my home, such as Yosemite, The Big Sur Coast, My home studio and even Lake Tahoe even though that's a bit further.  For each additional person that will be joining the workshop add $100 per day.  For workshops outside of my "local" area such as Zion National Park, Grand Teton National Park, San Gimignano Italy and others I incur additional travel costs that would require a special quote, however my basic per day fee would still be the same, the only additional cost would be for the travel.

Regarding Photography Groups/Clubs

I am more than happy to spend a day with your photography club either during a private photography workshop or as a guest speaker / presenter at your next meeting.  I have special pricing for both larger groups and for speaking / lecture engagements, contact me via phone 209.541.1815 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we can discuss your event.

Lodging and meals are not included with the workshop, however a local lodging guide and recommendations are included in the workshop's workbook that you'll receive after sign-up.
