Mono Sunset Mono Lake, California
Beyond the Trail
This image was made during an unexpected snowstorm in the Mono Lake area. This area gets a lot of snow during the winter but early October is still normally clear and fairly warm, I packed shorts. The first two days of the trip proved very cold and windy with several inches of snow falling during the days and nights. This particular day had much of the same weather but I decided to head out to Mono Lake for sunset "just in case". My brother-in-law John and I arrived at the area we scouted a couple of days before and waited to see what would happen. Luckily for us the clouds broke and the color show begun!
