Beyond the Trail
I'd been to this beach a number of times but had never come away with an image that I really liked but I knew something was there. I set up my tripod in the middle of the large rocks the tide was washing over and knew I wanted a longer exposure to get the movement in the water. I metered off the rock wall placing the lightest tones in a zone V, if I remember correctly, and luckily the exposure was within the films latitude. I made a few variation of this images including a vertical and some including more and less of the rocks in the foreground, but I liked this composition the most.
