Beyond the Trail
I've seen images of beautiful, glowing sunsets at Olmsted Point but was still surprised when I saw the scene light up in front of me. The mountains that make up the Sierra Nevadas are known as "the range of light" but wow.
The conditions at Olmsted point were difficult to say the least, 47 mph winds made it very difficult to set up and just create an image, let alone a sharp one. I wanted to use the trees and the ridge at the left to lead into the frame and Half Dome in order for the eye to pick up the color on the horizon and the sky. I used a two stop graduated ND filter to balance the light in the sky with that of the foreground. | |||||||
